Problem getting into league of legends?

So I downloaded league of legends and I have the desktop shortcut on my laptop screen but whenever I click on the desktop icon to get into league of legends, it brings up a popup saying this: this application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. I tried that several times and it didnt work. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this problem? Thanks to all help.
