My CDs and DVDs aren't playing correctly on my pc. Help?

I've been looking for answers but all of the other ones mentioned error messages and things of that nature. However, none of that is happening with me. I'll put a disc in and nothing will happen. No messages, popups, it just acts like it's not there. Any suggestions as to what I should do? All help is appreciated
