Sewage smell from my washer?

I had a plumber come to my house about two months ago because the drainage pipe was overflowing from my washer. After that I noticed an awful sewer smell when I use my washer that is getting progressively worse. Should the plumber be responsible for coming back for free or I'd it another problem?
