Why was living in the Middle Ages dangerous?

I have to write an essay about why living in the Middle Ages was dangerous. I have to include wooden buildings, the Black Plague, no bathroom facilities, no way to keep food fresh, disposal of sewage, etc. Can I get some websites or any information about this?
