Getting rid of BOO/TDss.m virus?

A couple days ago I stupidly opened up an e-mail from a friend that never e-mails me to begin with. -.- Right after that my laptop got the blue screen of death. I was forced to sit through loop after loop of start up repair trying to fix the problem and then saying it couldn't. Finally I figured out that if I disabled the driver signature verification at start up, I could at least get to my desktop and run my virus scans. Avira picked up a virus called BOO/TDss.m and I had to download Kaspersky's rootkitkiller thing to get rid of it. Or so I thought. Laptop ran great for 2 days and now all of a sudden, it's popped back up again. Is there anyway I can get rid of this thing for good? I guess it's a fairly new virus so I'm just looking for someone that's familiar with it, and how to get rid of it. I could always reformat my laptop, but I'm just looking to avoid that as much as possible right now. The virus itself hasn't seemed to do much to my laptop. I'm not getting any annoying popups, or weird programs starting to run on their own. The only problems have been the start up, and when I use google, it'll redirect me to sites full of ad's.
